What is Mental Health?

Mental health refers to an individual's mental well being. It can be thought of as an umbrella term that describes one's emotions, thoughts, and feelings. Mental health also encompasses social connections and how one views themselves.  While people may mistake happiness for good mental health, having good mental health really means being able to live life and cope properly in spite of hardship.

What is a Mental Illness?

A mental illness is a recognized and diagnosed disorder that affects the way people think, feel, behave, and interact with others. Having a mental illness often affects one's ability to function in social, work, or family activities. It it important to note that a person can have poor mental health without having a mental illness.
